signature drinks

Everyone should have at least one signature drink.

A drink that is distinct to that particular individual. A drink that says, “This is me. This is who I am.”

My husband’s most recent, favorite drink is, “The Manhattan.” It’s a cocktail named after one of NYC’s boroughs. This drink is nothing like the Martini; it also doesn’t require a sharp learning curve to appreciate it.  The Manhattan is a very straightforward drink. Make sure it is well chilled! Serve in a cocktail glass.

My favorite drink is, “The Greyhound.” It’s got the perfect balance of bitterness and tart. This drink is very versatile. You can make it with vodka or gin. A little grapefruit juice or a lot. On the rocks or straight-up. I prefer on the rocks!


Manhattan (recipe)

2 ounces rye whisky
1 ounce vermouth
2 dashes angostura bitters

Pour in shaker over cracked ice. Shake away. Strain into a well chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.

Greyhound (recipe)

Some vodka or gin (this will vary, depending on how stiff you want your drink to be) 
grapefruit juice (I prefer freshly squeezed)

Pour vodka/gin and grapefruit juice in a highball glass over ice. Stir to combine. You can salt the rim of the glass if you’d like. Garnish with mint.
