Last Christmas, my friend Sara gave me a bag filled with homemade Chex mix. After trying a few bites, I devoured the whole bag in less than 30 minutes. It was THE best Chex mix I have ever had.
When my husband and I had a whole weekend of staying home, I made the Chex mix; he also couldn’t stop snacking on it. The secret ingredient was something we had in our pantry: Lawry’s Seasoned Salt.
Since then, we have made it for our friends, during move nights and whenever we are craving a snack. We make one large batch and pack it for lunches too! Once you try this, you will never go back to buying it from the store! Thanks Sara, for this yummy snack!
you will need:
1 large mixing bowl
1 stick of butter, melted
1 container of Lawry’s Seasoned Salt
1/2 bag of pretzel sticks
1 small can of cashews
3/4 bag of rice or corn Chex Mix Cereal
3/4 bag of wheat Chex Mix Cereal
1 large jelly roll pan or 2 large cookie sheets
1.) Melt the stick of butter in the microwave.
2.) Open and pour the pretzel sticks, cashews, and cereal into the large mixing bowl.
3.) Pour the melted butter in the bowl. Using your clean hands, mix the contents of the bowl with the butter.
4.) Empty the contents of the bowl in a foil lined cookie sheet. Try to have one flat, thin layer of cereal mix.
5.) Sprinkle the Lawry’s Seasoned Salt over the cereal mixture and mix again. I like to sprinkle a little black pepper.
6.) Pop the cookie sheets in a 200°F oven for about 10-15 minutes. You want the spices to cook with the butter onto the cereal mix/pieces.
7.) Cool then eat!
