This is such a beautiful place! The Barking Frog restaurant is located at the Willows Lodge; its doors opened 8 years ago. Since I was there for dinner, when I pulled up into the parking lot, I was greeted with the Lodge’s dramatic silhouette.
It was the last day of Seattle Restaurant Week. I took advantage of the prix fixe menu for $30. Here’s what I had:
Appetizer:
Apple-Parsnip Soup, Cacao Nib-Cardmon Crisp, Micro Arugula
Entrée:
Mushroom Risotto, Foraged Mushrooms, Mushroom Nage, Rainbow chard, Beet Chips
Dessert:
Bourbon Pecan Pie, Chantilly, Muscavado Anglaise, Candied Pecans
Barking Frog has the feel of a rustic bistro. The service is excellent and the environment is casual. The restaurant was crowded with people. I enjoyed a glass of Reisling with my meal. The food was fresh, rich, and full of textures.
Know before you go:
– Make reservations; Barking Frog is a busy place
– If you have a large party, try sitting at the round table. It has a roaring fireplace in the middle.
– They have a LARGE selection of Washington wines.
Where is the bathroom:
In the corner of the great wine cellar by the front door; directly behind the maître d’.
